How many of you reckon its about time this "Forward - backward " time was removed from society? All it does is feck up our body clocks for ages after the event. Why not just set the time half way in-between winter and summer time and leave it at that?If its left " as is " people will get used to it and not have to re-arrange their body clocks over weeks to get to grips with the new system. How many other countries have this syatem like we do?

WTF??

I can see the meaning in his eyes......he is saying....."Neigh, the clocks go forward, but neigh matters to me, ...still stood standing here in this field without a Rolex ... "

Don't forget to change the time settings on this forum (Manage - Your Personal Settings- GMT +1). And what is different from the past is that if you use any of the other Livecloud/Hoop.la/Social Strata sites, you will need to change the setting for each site. Since the big changes late last year, changing the settings on one site won't automatically filter through to the other sites.

One of the problems  is the difference in 'Day Length' from north to south. So much good daylight would be lost at one end or the other.

But I agree if we set  time at some point and just left it at that, then we would get used to it.

Apparently we did that  in the '70s or '80s for a while. I have no clear recollection of any major disasters happening because of it.

Is there any real reason why we can't - wasn't it done as an aide to the farmers during WW2 ?

Yes we did and there's a proposal currently going through Parliament to do it permanently.

Incidentally, did you know that this whole idea of clocks changing was started in this country by an idiot who always used to get up at dawn to ride his horse? He got annoyed at the number of people in London who were sleeping through the morning daylight hours He also was a golfer and was irritated by having to cut his round of golf short at dusk. So he proposed moving the clocks forward. Selfish bugger!
