Post a reminder nearer the time cos I really want to watch it - I like a bit of artistic licence - doesn't have to be too accurate for me!
I've been watching the ads for this and will definitely be watching. Like Soozy, a few historical inaccuracies are neither here nor there. It will give a flavour of the times (cold war etc) and a look at one of the most charismatic presidents in recent history (albiet with a dark side lol). Can't wait.
Hey guys
I'm working on The Kennedys at the moment. Great to see some conversation on here about it. :-)
I can confirm it's on tomorrow (Thursday) at 9pm on HISTORYâĒ.
Enjoy the show, be great to know what you think!
Welcome Fundamental Amp Fascinating period of history... and I should know... I lived through it
I shall be watching...the trailers look good, but we shall see how truthful it is!!!!
Hey guys,
So what did you think of the show? Any best bits?
Looking forward to hearing some views...
Fundamentl Amp and welcome. I watched it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. I've read a lot about the period, always trying to remind myself that hardly anything you read is truth, but I found myself being shocked at Joe Kennedy (the father) and how manipulative he was. In fact he came over as a thoroughly nasty piece of work (together with his son Joe). I'd often read that he 'bought' the presidency for Jack and this was well portrayed in the series. So far, Bobby and his wife have come across well and I found myself having great sympathy for Jaqueline. I'm looking forward to the next episode....fascinating insight .
I don't like any of the Kennedys. The father was a tyrant, the brothers were taking the piss about women, their ego was in outer space.
Can't disagree with any of that Cologne
I didn't watch it as the ads for it put me off, too Hollywood is the nearest I can get to how the ads came across to me....maybe there were better ad clips that would have got my interest. I was aware from past interest of the older Kennedy clan where there seemed to be a lot of male dominance and huge ego. When Jack and Jackie were a prominent force on the world scene they were both charismatic in their own way. They are both part of American history and so no doubt will always be remembered it's just that the ads put me off watching this particular version of them
The Review Show last night on BBC2 reviewed The Kennedys - none of the reviewers had a single good thing to say about it.

Hiya, thanks for your warm welcome, I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and Iâm glad youâre looking forward to the next one...
Just to give you a little preview of the next episode, I can say that we'll see how the pressure of decision-making brings home the reality of the Presidency to Jack, while Bobby starts to show his potential as Attorney General and we see how this is guided by his loyalty to Jack. We also see Joe Sr's influence starting to diminish, and how Jack's behaviour puts Jackie in a difficult position.
Thanks for your comments and enjoy the next one!
That's got to be worth watching just to see Joe Snr's face when he realises the can no longer control his sons! Thanks for the preview .....and roll on Thursday.
I think it was the father who shocked me too Sweet Summer. Lots has been written about the brothers but not the same emphasis on Joe Snr. He comes across as a despicable control/power freak who, because HE never made it as president, used influence and money to make sure his boys did. Then tried to control presidential policies. Hateful character. I'm liking Bobby tho ~ hope he doesn't blot his copy book.
It's great to see you guys are enjoying the show, I'm seeing some really interesting observations!
Hope you enjoy the next one, its on again tonight on History at 9pm.
Let me know what you think!
So did anybody manage to catch the last episode? Any thoughts?

Hope you're enjoying it so far, looking forward to your replies...
I'm hooked too. When it ends I don't want to wait a week for the next part. I wonder how much "licence" is used in portraying historical events.....just a curiosity, because having read Sinatra's version of the Giancanna involvement its very very different from what this showed. (maybe that's predictable lol). I'm drawn to Joe Kennedy's summation that Sinatra just wanted everyone to know he was the president's buddy. Still feeling sorry for Jacqui ..... and also wondering how someone with such a back injury (constantly strapped up) finds its no drawback in the bedroom department!!

hahaha. I wish I'd watched it now. They are a fascinating family with or without the use of dramatic license. I'm sure there's so much that happened then that is still not in the public domain and most of the key players took to their graves with them. I've seen some of the pics of Katie Holmes as Jackie and she does have the look of her. I love the Jackie look in the 1960's, not so keen on the re-entry shield sunglasses and kaftans she wore in the 1970s.

Thanks for those pics Amp, they show a distinct resemblance don't they?
Suzy I love her style too ~ simplistically elegant. Will the show maybe catch the eye of the current fashion designers? Oooo I hope so!
Yes, thanks for the pics Katie has captured her. Hi Aquarius I love the simplicity and elegance of Jackie's look.
Hi guys, if you're interested in the style of the era you might also like this clip from the final part of The Kennedys showing a scene with Bobby Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe http://yhoo.it/gcecZm
Looking forward to hearing what you think of the finale on Thursday
Well, now that I've wiped away the tears.....sooooooo sad. For Jackie, for Bobby, for Ethel; but most of all for America. For what could have been.........
