What are peoples views on this?  Is it a storm in a teacup?  Or are people right to be very angry with Kate?  After all she is (supposedly) a 'role model' for young women/girls, and this is a terrible example to set really.  Personally I think she is a petulant brat and a sub-intelligent attention seeking bimbo, and although she is beautiful, she is just not a very nice person.  She is a spoilt, attention-seeking childish brat, and I think this was a terrible thing to do.  She got what I suspect she was looking for though: attention and controversy.

Opinions?

Kate Moss is a role Model?? ?don't think so. .

she's rough and associated with drugs or drug taking 'slebs' in my mind.. so not role model material..

as for the cigs inside I hate that you are a second class citizen cos you smoke. .I respect non smokers wanting smoke free zones but also would appreciate a bit of respect to long term smokers and places creating and allowing some smoker zones as well as opposed to the massive all out ban they did..

I am fine with them banning advertising and not promoting it but am not a fan of not being able to go anywhere cos if I want to feel at ease and comfy I have to sit outside..  going out is a nightmare for me as it is and since the ban I've not been able to even attempt to go out socially cos it's a nerve wracking enough thing as it is and if I can't have a relaxing ciggie in comfort too there's no point..

I think I veered off topic a bit there

Well said, and I agree.  She is such a stupid annoying brat and thinks she can do what she wants because she is 'famous.'  Agree with mount olympus though that smokers shoudn't be treated like lepers as it is actually an addiction, and is banned in enough places and made difficult to do hardly anywhere as it is.  And I think there should be more places where you CAN smoke.... banning it in ALL pubs and bars was the dumbest idea ever IMO.

Most smokers are quite considerate, but Kate Moss is stupid, making look all cool and glam because TBH it's not: it's pretty foul and it makes you stink and it's bad for your health and teeth and gums and your complexion and everything, but I think that if people are addicted to it, then they shouldnt be treated like scum.  There are worse things to be than a smoker.  It does make me cringe when I see people smoking around their kids though.

it was never peer pressure that made me want to try and eventually become addicted to cigs. .it was watching my mother and father relish their 'relaxing' sit downs with a  cuppa and a ciggy.. it made it look like it was something great to have to make me feel good.. it wasn't their fault as that was a very very long time ago when smoking was common everywhere and there was no such thing as 'it's bad to smoke' campaigns... .

Wish I'd never tried it but I did and I liked it and then twas too late I got hooked.. ..

Oh no,  I didn't mean to have a go at your parents or anyone elses TBH Olly, ;; my folks smoked too, and in the home sometimes too,..... and me smoking (I started at 17) was nowt to do with them smoking either.  I smoked to be 'cool' like my college mates .... and my other half's parents smoked too, and him and his two brothers ALL detested it...  so even though our parnets smoking can have an influence, it doesn't mean you will automatically want to smoke because they did.

What I'm trying to say is that now we know the effects of smoking and the effects it has on others, it makes me cringe when I see parents - usually younger ones - blowing smoke around the room where their young children are... I mean it does affect them; it 'can' cause glue ear and respiratory problems and all sorts ... so it's wise to smoke away from your kids.  I'm not having a go at anyone BTW and I am sure that most people on here don't blow smoke over their young kids/grandkids.

I gave it up 10 years ago BTW but still think that smokers shouldnt be given such a hard time...  as long as they are considerate, which most seem to be these days.    I do have asthma though and so does my brother, so I wonder if it was because we were regularly exposed to smoke a lot in the 1970s and 1980s when we were kids... Because he has never smoked....Also my two cousins (aged 40 and 41,) have asthma too and they don't smoke and never have.....and their parents smoked a lot and the house was always full of ciggie smoke.

I didn't take it as you having a go at my parents cupcake I was just explaining how it was I came to smoke and it was cos of watching my parents enjoy it. .ie it wasn't peer pressure at all or the thought of being cool that got me onto them. and if they had not smoked in front of me maybe I wouldn't have been so inclined to try it..  .tho I do think I have an addictive nature so would have got onto them one way or another..

funny thing is when I was a kid hardly anybody had asthma or breathing problems and most spent their time around smokers..  I mean in those days you'd  watch a live debate on the tellybox and everyone was smoking ..  [and the news reader had a telephone on his {no hers back then either}  desk that rung when a video clip got lost or his notes were in the wrong order ]

nowadays it seems loads more people have allergies and asthma and seems more related to the the time the EU rules for changes in how we sell/package food and all the additives etc.. am not convinced it's all cos of smoking at all..

Children back along used to spend more time outdoors I reckon Olly & the air they breathed was fresher - according to statistics standing on a busy town centre corner for an hour is the equivalent of smoking numerous cigs because of car fumes...

I only hope that hiding tobacco products under the counter doesn't give them an air of the forbidden hence enticing the young to have a go

And for the record - I think Kate's outfit is bloody horrible !

Kate Moss has always done that rock chick, sleazy, druggie thing.  She's been the main poster girl for the drugs trade and was one of the models chiefly associated with heroin chic.

I'm in the storm in a teacup camp.  Kate must be getting a bit long in tooth for modelling and oddly can get more controversy for smoking a fag than all the tales of hanging around drug addled rock stars, cocaine and heroin that have followed and helped her career.

I am not against anyone who smokes my husband smoked but he never did in the house I did put my feet down there  I wont let anyone smoke in my house and family and friends are fine with that and have always respected my wishes as a non smoker as I respect theirs as smokers, it is an addiction and must be very hard to try and give up my husband tried many times ..but he did in the end for over a year before he passed away.

It had the desired effect ,plenty of PR for the fashion house she was representing.
She thinks she is such a rebel ,smoking indoors in a country that has a   smoking ban,it was also on National No Smoking day, a well planned PR stunt.
I would love to see her prosecuted for it ,but that would only serve to promote her as "cool".

I'm pretty sure Kate Moss didn't just think think to herself ..............eff it - I need a fag and I'm just gonna smoke on the catwalk.

it's a publicity stunt and all part of the show. Nothing whatsoever to do with Kate Moss ............the designers planned it to get people talking - it worked!

As if Kate Moss would simply walk down the cat walk smoking a fag. When all is saID  and done she's a successful and professional model. She does what is asked of her.
