I know this was mentioned in Velvets thread but I thought Jane Russell deserved a thread of her own. She was one of the Hollywood greats that had real star quality. She wasn't the best actress around, but she certainly had the Va Va Voom factor which I think both men and women liked. R.I. P. Janexx

Thank you Sezit.
The news item which I have just watched mentions 3 marriages, struggle with alcoholism, a deeply held religious faith, and that she didn't take herself too seriously. I knew none of this until now.
El Loro has written about her in the Film/Movies Forum, here:-

You're welcome Sezit. I agree with what you say about Jane Russell. She has lived through a great many changes in Hollywood. She's seen 'em come and seen 'em go.
In case others may not be aware of all the forums available on GaGaJoyJoy - if you hover over "forums" (top left of the page) a drop-down menu will appear. On that menu if you hover over "UK TV fans" a list of forums will open up.
Alternatively just click on UK TV Fans at the top of the page.
Sadly many of those other forums are little used.
She was always glamorous. I like this simple photograph of her.
RIP Jane.
RIP Jane.
One of Jane Russell's best films was His Kind of Woman (1951). A film noir but with humour. It also starred Robert Mitchum. Vincent Price also stars in one of his earlier roles and gives a memorable performance. Well worth watching if you ever get the chance.

Jane Russell isn't for me sorry....... Not a woman I would call particularly attractive. JMO of course.

Sezit, I do apologise: I didn't realise that Jane had died yesterday. I noticed the RIP stuff in here when I just read through the thread again. I thought this was just a thread about her from someone who liked her. And I must admit that I thought she died some years ago ... RIP Jane. xxx

It's OK Cupcake.
I agree Sezit that, while she wasn't one of the 'greats', she most certainly made an impact in the glitz and glam stakes. I saw a photo of her earlier which was taken at the Oscars only 3 years ago and she was still as glamourous and beautiful as ever

I think Jane has a look of Katherine Hepburn in that photo, although she was a lot better looking than Kate
