I think he'd be my favourite, but I'm also basing it on him being a bl**dy lovely fella all round.

I was surprised how much I liked this film.  Kilmer gives an outstanding performance in my not so 'umble.

God, he was beautiful.  I can't stand John Wayne but Red River is a great film and one of my (western fan) dad's all time favourites.

Brisket:  What about James Arness as Marshall Matt Dillon and Chuck Connors from Branded...?

Clift had a terrible car crash and smashed all his face;  had to have lots of plastic surgery and suffered terrible depression ever after.  Poor fella.

Butch and Sundance!  I loved, loved, LOVED that film.  And still do.
Never could decide (at the time) between the two of them.  Then again, I see Katherine Ross never had that problem.....   Sensible girl.

I returned to the cinema a number of times to watch The Proud Ones (made in 1956)
With Robert Ryan, Jeffrey Hunter, Virginia Mayo, Walter Brennan, Arthur o'Connell, and Rodolfo Acosta (a familiar and reliable face in many westerns and other films.)
I liked The Proud Ones very much...

One of the good things about The Proud Ones was the music by Lionel Newman.
I cannot find the original version, but this one is closest. (Many of the pictures are not from The Proud Ones, although some are.)
