I'm loving it, feeling quite nostalgic even though I would only have been a kid. It's a bit like when I watch Gregory's Girl another favourite.

I used to love the likely lads ...still watch ( and listen) to it if it's on the radio or TV ....it's comfort blanket viewing  

I've not seen this film. Really enjoying it. They made good comedy back then. 

1976 was also the last good summer we had  

I've got Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads, series one and two (I think!) too.

I haven't seen Gregory's Girl for decades.

All the family used to watch it every year, a staple in our house along with Gardeners World.

Such  a great film IMO.

The summer of '76 was when my mate (underage) drank a thimble-full of Colt 45 lager and gave the best ever example of the true meaning of legless.

We dumped her on the doorstep of her house, rang the doorbell and RAN..!

The Likely Lads filmed a scene at the end of our street.

I always imagined that one day the Likely Lads would meet up with the Liver Birds.

That was before I realised they were in completely different cities   

Note to self - look up Liver Birds episodes.

My first time pished was years later... as an au pair in Madrid.... sangria, obvs!  Missed my train stop and all

How the heck can you remember your 1st pished moment?  (I do like your choice of beverage AND the location though)  

Mine was probably 1976.  Probably AFTER we'd dumped Sue and ran for it - needed a drink to calm our nerves   Perhaps that's when I decided that the Livers should meet the Likelys....

OK, long story which I'll try to cut short.

Mr Cos was doing an exhibition somewhere 'oop North and called in a voice coach to help him project to the audience.  He was getting on swimmingly with the voice coach....so much so that he decided to video call me and introduce her.

Why would he do such a thing?

Well....... I answered the call (I looked like a moose dragged through a spin drier, I do remember THAT), and there was Mr C grinning.

"Wotcha Cosi...!  This is Polly - do you recognise her?"

Of course I bluddy well did  

It was Polly James - Beryl from the Liver Birds, waving at me.

She was lovely.

Brentford Nylon nighties?  

Brilliant. Finished it.

A bit sad to read that they fell out 30 years ago and have never spoken since.

I remember Brentford nylons. The whole female side of my family wore them.

IIRC, James Bolam was furious at Rodney Bewes for discussing his wife's pregnancy in an interview and refused to speak to him after that. It would seem that James guards his privacy, and is not the forgiving sort.

Apparently he also blocked any repeats of the show thus depriving Rodders of any further income. Rodders does make out that he is not the wealthiest of men.

Such as a shame and I guess that's why we have never seen any "Where are the Likely Lads" shows. Shame really as they both are not getting any younger and it would be good to hear stories first hand.

Ah the summer of 76..I was 21 ..me and my family went to Blackpool for our holiday,the first two days it poured with rain,then on the Sunday  the sun came out...boy did it come out! "  2 weeks of temps reaching the nineties.I was cooked despite trying to stay covered up etc.I actually got blisters on my upper chest with the sun,it was soo hot! lasted a month or more.

What a brilliant summer to be in Blackpool Katty .

I had brill hols there too...but not such a scorcher as you sadly 

har Roger it was fantastic,though I  do remember trudging fifty yards or so to get a bottle of cider from the offy,the pavements were like baking sheets..hee hee!

1976 - the hottest summer ever!  I was kid at the time around 8 or 9 but that summer has memories that are stuck forever like no other summer before nor since.  Had loads of good times that summer.
