What's great today might not be so great in 10 years
Most of the music I listen to now is what I might (possibly presumably or even arrogantly) call timeless. Like Bowie, The Beatles, early Radiohead, music that in 50 years time nobody can deny was 'classic'. There are lots more examples and other people will find examples that are different to mine but we will all agree that 'great' music stands the test of time and there has been precious little of it in the last 20 years.
I wonder what kids of today will look back on and have fond memories of. Manufactured boy/girl bands? It's all a bit sad really.
Jocko Homo?! Muf! Talk to us. We can help.

Against Me!
PJ Harvey
Smashing Pumpkins
Portishead
Green Day
BjÃķrk
Daft Punk
Lol
Disregard these! I went through a top albums chart from the last twenty years but realised that it was invalid when Achtung Baby was No 1 and didn't include the Bluetones at all

They only ever did one good song. Was it called 1969? It was a brilliant New Order ripoff. I liked it

Another 'one good song' moment and it was with The Sugarcubes. Birthday.

It occurs to me that I really like several of the 'boring bands' and artists given a mention here

1979? Brilliant album (Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness) Another 'one good song' moment and it was with The Sugarcubes. Birthday.
Really liked her first album (Debut)...Radiohead.
An amazing band IMOThe Bends was an almost perfect album
Radiohead?! Creep is an absolute timeless classic
I liked them in the 80s but New Order's music hasn't aged too well. Too cluttered with tinny 1980s production and Peter Hook's guitar combined with Bernard Sumner's predictable and dry vocals tends to makes the mid to late 80s stuff sound very samey. Not really the most boring of all time but still worth a mention.

U2... they've gone from coolest band to... well.. they've not released a decent song since "One"
Yet they still go on...

I love The Smiths, my favourite band of all time.
But you can stuff The Strokes, Status Quo and all soft-rock shite like Bon Jovi, Journey and Foreigner up their own backsides. Plus talentless current crud like NDubz. Bleurrgghhh...
