It was my grandsons ninth birthday today. We had a bit of a party here for him - he's stayed over.

I've just walked round the house and hid the last of the party poppers and burst all the balloons. TBH - I've had all the fun and frivolity I can stand. I couldn't face it again in the morning.

I feel a bit guilty now.

As the RHB NY fireworks erupted and the Chinese Lanterns floated across the bay we sang Happy Birthday to our best pal's SIL, gave cards and presents, and brought out the cake.

So true ..................I love my grandson dearly but I really have to gee myself up for hid birthday. My other grandson (his brother) has a birthday on Christmas day.

We are a family of winter birthdays - I'd love some summer celebrations!

Crikey, I thought there was gonna be an evil story lurking within these Walls, don't beat yaself up- ya threw a party and celebrated with the little tyke, that to me makes a terrific grandma! He's probs only interested in the toys the next morning anyway ;-)

Don't feel bad about it. My son grew up believing that there was a balloon fairy that came during the night and liberated any balloons he might have got during the day out of his bedroom window.

The truth of the matter was, one balloon intolerant evil mother with a pin.
