Actually, I have been surprised by some of it, but it's really just a matter of degrees.
For example, although I've always considered the Israeli attack on the Gaza flotilla to have been a violent, ilegal assault, I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't know that 6 of the 9 dead passengers had actually been executed. (source: UN report)
I was also a little surprised by just how many journalists from the Gulf War (such as Rageh Omaar) were prepared to hold their hand up and admit that they hadn't done their job properly...

Inasmuch as there was some really shocking footage from Iraq, Afghanistan etc, and what to many will be shocking revelations of what's really the "truth" and not what the Western media portrays, I think what surprised me the most was that the programme was allowed to be shown.
Recorded it.
I've not watched it,but is this relating to the veteran reporter John Pilger? He has been on the TV over the last few days stating that journalists have lost their way,|They should be challenging etc,not trying to sway public opinion...as in those that write for papers right/left wing etc.

Well, I think a lot of news organizations now admit (at least privately) that they allowed themselves to be misled, and even tacit support for programmes such as this may provide them with some degree of soul-cleansing. Most of it has to come down to John Pilger, though. He remains very highly regarded, and a hugely influential figure.
Now, if this had been shown on Sky... That would have been really impressive!
Gawd preserve us from Murdoch/ SKY news...
You really only have to watch the BBC "Breakfast" news to see how it's going...down into the sewers.Americanisation as in two presenters "sparking" inananities at each other...sad really.
Some really shocking stuff.
No mention of journalists making programmes about Iraq and Afghanistan before the wars, and making the case for a change of regime then, mind you!

Just realised the whole of the documentary isn't on the above vid, you have to watch it in parts shown on the right side of the utube link...for those that are interested in the first place
Many people are credited with the saying, "In war the first casuality is truth!" That's it in a nutshell. We all did our bit to try to prevent the last lot happening, but who are we against a mighty military and industrial complex?
