I was going to suggest that you look at tofu recipes anyway. The great thing about tofu is that it doesn't have much taste of its own, so it tends to take on the taste of whatever sauces / flavourings you put with it. You can even marinade it overnight.

It's an excellent source of protein, nut-free and also zero cholesterol. If you do use it, just make sure you drain it thoroughly first.
