There are several threads about the new appearance of the forum, and suggestions that we have a poll.
(The Tshirt above right is not a real one - just computer created.)
So please vote for your favourite forum colour scheme.

I did a poll too Brisket, but not nearly as comprehensive as yours.
I don't like the new colours (too dreary) and I wasn't overly keen on the previous colours (too garish). I know, I'm a pain in the neck.
What's wrong with a nice restful, pastel shade?

I like it, the old one was too bright for me
Yogi - you are certainly not a pain in the neck.
Poll's are to test the general opinion, and they often do not cover sufficient options.
So you are quite justified in offering further possibilities.

I MUCH prefer the new colours. I hated the old colour scheme, and it made my eyes hurt after a while. I find the greys much more soothing and easy on my eyes, and I think the new colour scheme looks much smarter.
Voted for previous colour.
The previous cornsilk colour was fine by me.
There should at least be an option to apply your own skin.
I was wondering if this is age-related or sight-related? Are are the ones having problems past the first flush of youth?
And if so, I wonder if whoever designed it is some sprog (that's anyone under 35 these days) with 20-20 vision who hasn't studied accessibility?
I am middle-aged and my eyesight ain't what it used to be!! I find the current colours hurt.
Then, if you switch to a website where they have a different scheme eg Google, there is a period of adjustment.
*whinge etc*

I voted for the old colours any light colours would be fine something more cheerful than what we have been given would be fine by me
Those who are saying the other scheme was garish - only the banner was, the rest of the site was cornsilk - a sort of lemony-peachy colour.
I think this was it:
CORNSILK
I never looked at the banner anyway.

I'm 52, so I think that disproves the age-related theory! I think the muted grey shade make it much easier to focus on the contents of the thread rather than the ghastly colour we used to have.

Thanks Brisket.

I never looked at the banner either. I found the Cornsilk colour combination very unpleasant.
Growly, I said age OR sight-related.
Do you have good eyesight?
Just wondering....
There is a period of adjustment for me too when leaving this site and going to a brighter web page or eg an Office programme - they all seem too bright for a few seconds.

I have just arrived! ...and I have to say I love the new look and colours

I voted for the yellow and black but only cos it's brighter.
Yogi - I mentioned a nice pastel shade in another thread- a great suggestion
I'm thinking a nice baby blue or pink.

Joyron has posted elsewhere that on her PC, these colours look very dark and black, but on her laptop they appear to be slate bluey-grey and quite restful. This could be why different people are having different reacions.
I think its just going to take some getting used to.
That's me being optimistic.

I never realised how much I loved the bright colours until I saw this.

Sorry, I can't quote at the momen. Baby Bunny, my eyesight isn't bad; I wear glasses for distance - I'm never sure if that means I'm near sighted or long sighted
I remember when the old forum was changed to bright yellow briefly, and I found that difficult. Any concentration of bright yellow makes me throw up within a few minutes for some reason

On quoting - I could, then I couldn't, now I can again!
On colours - I have had to gen up on accessibility - it's part of my job.
Any colour schemes that are too contrasting eg blue text on yellow background () are a no-no.
Go to any site trying to flog you summat - sites where they don't want to put people off visiting their site - and you will find colour schemes that don't cause problems for the majority eg dark text, white background - at least in the main reading pane.
In my experience, peeps who use other colour schemes are new to creating websites and get carried away with all the colour options available to them. After a while, they realise the error of their ways!!

Good news to see Ted's post that they are going to use a variety of different themes and then we can vote for our favourite

Sorry cant quote as yet, but thats good we can vote
I see from elsewhere that Seattle are trying out different backgrounds
on a daily basis over the next week. At the end, they will do a poll to
see which is the most popular. Somehow I on't think this one will do too
well. By the way this theme is called Dark Dots. If you go to the
Livecloud site, then from Your Site, select Control Panel. Then from the
resulting menu on the left, select Themes. You get a choice of 14
themes which you can select for your personal site (won't have any
effect over in this forum). But you can try them out to see what they
look like.
New colours by far.
I like the new Gaga banner, it's got a more urban feel as opposed to the dingy colours it had before. (Would have looked better on a black t-shirt for comparison purposes, btw )
