I just put my nativity crib ..electric lighted candles I have a lovely fibre optic not christmas tree it is about about one foot more like branches I put it at the window other than that I dont bother with a christmas tree decorations any more but my house still looks christmasy

i like those little prelit cherry blossom trees that are around at the moment. i wish i had room for one of them.

Only my cards. I am usually working the christmas period. And on the rare occassions I don't work christmas I go away to sisters house.

We just have two trees, which go up on the 23rd or 24th of December, and a garland on the mantelpiece.  I have never put any decorations up - I think they look a bit cheap and tacky.

This year I'll have two trees, one in the hall(white fibre optic no decs on it) and one in the back room (red and gold). None in my sitting room, I'll just put up a garland with lights over the mantle and some little xmas trees near the fire. Little stars lights hanging in the window and cards hung up either side of the door. I have a garland for my stairs (which reminds me to buy some ribbon) and I may pick up a few little decs for the hall mirror and landing window.

*tacky alert* i love christmas, so the tree will go up first weekend in december (red and gold decorations) with an angel on top, foil decoations corner to corner, "danglies" in between, lights on tree and window (icicle ones) , range of santas (ho,ho ho/flashing/singing) on window sill, little light up house advent calender and cards as they arrive and pressies under tree - as i said i love christmas!

ohh moonbeams I want a nice wreath for the mirror in he hall and living room,  I think mirrors look great decorated at xmas.

and machel i love the sound of your christmas, its the only one time we get to play fancy dress with our house so why not go for it.

we have night before christmas decorations for the tree..and sort of colour co-ordinate with the housedecs...

I put the big tree, complete with decs, lights and angel in the living room. A candle arch in the front window, a large cardholder, lots of little Santa and Christmas ornaments, a large ceramic Victorian Christmas scene which lights up, a big snowman advent calendar which you can put goodies in (hubby says we're putting biccies in for the dog) and a small fibre optic tree in the hall.
I don't like to go overboard.

Tree decked out in red and white. Garland for the mantlepiece and stairs. We have green sort of pine ceiling decorations which we drape with beads and icicles - lots of lights ...........................................and cards of course. Mainly all red and white but there is a bit of gold in there too.

Usually just a tree and some other lights around the windows.  This year will be different though, cos I've cancelled Christmas so there will be no decorations

depends on my mood - the last two years I couldn't be bothered to put decorations up.  When I do put the big tree in the front room up, it's decorated in red and gold.  I have some baubles that were my mums and I put them up for sentimental reasons and a few that I made as a child   

In the living room I put up a ceramic Christmas tree that a friend made for me - it's gorgeous and I love it and it's the one thing I will put up ever year 

I could be here a while!!!


We have our main tree in the lounge....this year it co-ordinates with our new furniture so had to buy new cos old stuff went with old sofas!!! It will be chocolate, soft gold and orange (burnt not neon!!!) with a load of red chucked in cos I like it!! There will be about 300 lights on tree with loads more around the room....a kissing ball always hangs in the middle of the ceiling and then I'll fill up the rest of the room with glass vases filled with matching baubles and lights, as well as various other bits.


The second tree goes in the kitchen and is decorated with pale green and silver to co-ordinate there!! There will also be a big garland up the bannister and light round the dresser as well as a wreath on the wall.


The third tree will be in the conservatory cos that's where we eat....this will be red and lime green (last years colours....can't waste them!!).


Then the boys will have a tree each in their rooms and lights in windows etc.


I have even been known to put decs in the downstairs loo.....


Then there are the lights in the garden....about 120 lantern ones that go around the door, along fences and all that....there is also a real crimbo tree in the front garden which I decorate with red and silver baubles and lights.


I start the big decorating event next weekend....and I'm already excited!!!!

No more than I would expect from someone called Mrs Baubles!

Hehehehe....it becomes even more appropriate when you hear that on the main tree, I have over 100 baubles....maybe over 200...I buy loads of new ones every year and use some old ones, so lordy knows how many I have....perhaps I'll count them....I bought about 120 the other day, but they replace the old coloured ones!! I have a lickle, teeeny-tiny fetish for baubles!!!! I even use them on my gift wrapping....brown paper, coloured ribbon and co-ordinating mini-bauble or two....maybe I need help!!!!!!!!

(I had to read your post twice though MrsB.......at first I thought you'd bought a new sofa to match your decorations. )

I looooooooooove Christmas, but don't go to THAT much effort, cos I'm too lazy. We have a tall thin tree, with lots and lots of white twinkly lights, and then lots and lots of silver and lilac baubles. I love tinsel, but it just doesn't go well with my sophisticated tree.

That's all we have....no extra decs and NO christmas cards! I tell people not to buy me cards cos they will go straight in the bin.

MrsB has inspired me though.....I may have to go back to my old ways and smother myself in Christmas stuff this year.

If we had a bigger house, I'd invite everyone for a big crimbo party....even the bah-humbuggers!!!!

Jsut make sure you don't invite them till December and they'll be fine.

This year won't be quite the same as next year cos I am still in my little cottage but next year will be in  my very own house hopefully.

I don't know at the moment. I just had a small tree last year with a few decs and blue xmas tree lights for a very special person.
But I want to do more this year as I feel more secure and happy.
I can't remember what decs I have in the loft so will have a look and go from there.

Decoration, for me, should not go up intil the 24th of dec. I know many people disagree with that, but I carry on the tradition that my parents had for me and their parents before them. Tree goes up while the kids are out, presents under it, candles lit, door locked (somehow) until after supper.  Christmas day for us Germans is all about going to church, eating and family.

Not going to be in my own house for most of Christmas, so this year I'm not bothering. The cards will go up, my candles will be lit as usual and that's it.

That's still nice though - I kinda memorise who sent what Christmas card and as I look up or glance around it makes me think of them. We have moved arond in our life and it's lovely once a year to get a greeting from old friends.

Just a few of the Christmas tree baubles have been handed down through the family for over 100 years.
I alwats make sure they are visible. among the more recent additions. Big sentimental value.
