i went into a garden centre near me recently and they had a huge model villiage of all those little twee ceramic houses, churches and fair ground rides that move and light up. OMG it was so christmassssssy.  I dont like them, but in this setting it was like being 5 years old again, they did it really really well and it was HUGE!!! we were in there for hours just looking at them and spotting all the tiny details going on inside the houses and shops.

teehee - I am loving all the Xmas thoughts. I love the tacky Xmas decorations that sing and make a lot of noise
My own favourite is a penguin family that sings deck the whole with boughs of holly and the baby waggles its btm in time to the music.

I am afraid that at Christmas in my house good taste goes out of the window and the more colours and tack the better.
I wasn't really up to the full monty last year and just about had a tree and a few trimmings up.
This year -well it will be different. My poor OH has never really got Xmas and blanched when I told him the tree would be up on December 1st and the Xmas music would be loud!

At the risk of everyone hating me I have to admit I abhor tinsel   But I know everyone has their own taste   I also hate coloured lights and people who put their window lights on will nilly.

This year I'm throwing out the tree I've had for about 5 years and replacing with with a cream tree with only thousands of lights on it and a strategically placed gold bauble or two. Nothing else on the tree.  Oh actually something on top hmmm will have to think about what.  Normally I'd have the tree covered in alsorts then when visit people and see how much thought went into their tree so I'm going to be patient this year and do it properly and colour code it with the living room!

I do my mums tree first and spend hours doing it because every year she goes mental in the xmas shop and buys alsorts of light up santas etc so her living room is like a grotto.  But it also means she usually has too much and I end up with a few pieces to take home

I have a Santa sitting on a gold half moon that a friend sent me from Canada, oh ten years ago now. He gets a good spot every year, although maybe not this year as I bought a white fibre optic tree in the sales so I dunno if it'll take the weight of the big fella.
At home home we have a gold star with an angel that has been going up every year for as long as I can remember and balls with are names on them. Must get his nibbs a named ball
