I agree partly that professional footballers of their ability shouldn't be misplacing passes or missing the target from 10 yards out (I say that all the time at matches), but I'm sorry... you don't go down to a local park and see people who are good enough for the Premier League but haven't been dealt the lucky break. They just aren't there.
Any player playing in the Premier League is there because they are absolutely light years ahead of players who haven't made it as footballers. Players in League One which I watch every week are light years ahead of your average boy in the park as well.
You are so far wrong to say they are where they are purely out of pot luck. I play 6aside with lads who didn't quite make it with football league clubs, just weren't quite good enough, but play non-league football and they are so good, like seriously good (and I am not a bad player either but they take the piss out of me), yet when I see them play for their non-league clubs in pre-season friendlies etc against teams like Oldham or Rochdale or Carlisle, they get the piss taken out of them, totally out of their depth in terms of technique, touch, vision. I think watching Chelsea all the time, you're not appreciating how talented they are and how fast they do things - you've become too picky
It's good watching football from high up in the stands, it looks so easy, but watch it from pitch level and you really see the speed they do things, the speed in which they make the decisions, the speed of their feet when they have the ball. it's quite unbelievable really.
