Boris Karloff playing Frankestein's monster used his own childhood bullying etc as an Englishman with Indian ancestory and darker skin as an "outsider", to play the part as a "monster",but still gains sympathy from the audience.

I've got this on record - should be good
Another feather in the cap of BBC4. A great channel.
Just had an interview (possibly her last) with Gloria Stewart, who died a few days ago at the age of 100.
Mark Gatiss is a great presenter. No flapping forearms - unlike so many current presenters.
He proves you can present without animated arms and hands.
Fascinating information, presented in a way which is clear and informative and doesn't distract.

It's an excellent documentary. An interesting thing about the original Frankenstein,it featured the monster killing a child( Albeit in innocence by the creature, they were floating daisies together and he threw her in the water to "Float" like the daisies, she drowns ),a big no no even then.
Oh the original "Cat People" one of my fav old fims.Very sexual without little being shown,Sex wise or "monster" wise.Compared to the blood and guts gory claptrap that we now have.

Yes Brisket, rather sad that Bela Lugosi ended up in rep in this country trying to play Dracula on stage again in the fifties and was rather mocked by some audiences.

You're referenced in it
Watching the repeat (1.15 - 2.15 a.m.)
It really is good. Extremely informative and very well presented by Mark Gatiss, - he does it without distractions or gimmicks.
Good stuff.
