When my mother made a cake I always used to love eating any of the raw cake mix left in the bowl. But she was is a thrifty woman and she never left much. I promised myself that when I was a grown up I'd make that cake mix up and eat the whole lot raw
And have you?

I went out to dinner with a group one time and just ordered a huge banana split - no main or starter.  There was a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, a scoop of chocolate ice crem with marshmellow sauce, and a scoop of strawberry ice cream with strawberry sauce.  The whole lot was covered with wipped cream and chopped nuts.  It was delicious!  I didn't feel so well later and that is the only time I had just ice cream for dinner!

There were two things I couldn't wait to do. One was to nap on the sofa until 2 in the morning if I felt like it without being nagged to go to bed. The other was never having to eat roast beef, lamb, or pork again.
Do you eat a roast dinner now?

I remember not waiting until I was an adult and doing the things I wanted to do without someone telling me no.  I didn't like Sunday dinners much either, just wanted the pudding at the end.  Now, I'm not that much of a pudding eater, but I do like my roast dinners!

BTW! Thanks to everyone for not using the term, "licking out the bowl" and thus gifting Lilibet a comfortable punch-line.
Oh I was never allowed to lick the bowl! That was simply common.  She had  a small blue plastic spatula - probably still has it knowing MY mum.

And Suzi - yes I did. And it made me feel

But you know what? I'm 46 and yet I find myself reverting to stroppy teenager quite easily where my folks are concerned. They are so set in their ways these days I come over all Kevin.

And I leave Blizzie to make of that last remark what she will.

Mine's really silly but I couldn't wait to have a Shippham's paste sandwich   I saw those strange little jars when we first came to England and wanted to make a buttie but Mam wouldn't buy any cos she said it was what people who couldn't afford a decent filling ate

Loved them until I became veggie    I even used to make shaped sandwiches with pastry cutters to make them more interesting

That reminded me of the Midsommer Murders episode when the creepy, incestuous, blackmailing undertaker offers DI Barnaby & Sergeant Troy a platter of sandwiches when he had cut the butties into clubs, spades, diamonds & hearts and they were filled with fish paste and marmite and other tempting morsels.
He was murdered but not by Barnaby & Troy.
