Isadora I dont kill spiders I bought a spider trap it is a see through plastic square box with a long handle it is like a little window you slide it along at the bottom put it on top of the spider then close it, I release the spider in the garden I bought mine from Betterware I am not sure if you can buy them in the shops

I think a spider trap is the answer., I may well try B and Q or if not our local hardware shop in the village cos that seems to stock everything,

My mother had one of these sliding window box traps, probably the same type as Marguerita. They are fine for smooth surfaces, and best when used on a wall. Could be a bit harder using this on a ceiling though as you need both hands, one to hold the handle and the other to slide the window shut. Also good for flies and wasps if they assist by resting on a window pane.

I know what you mean El Loro I use my long handled feathery duster when they are on the ceiling or high up on the wall and bring them down to the floor then catch it

I use a large marguerita glass and an envelope 

Ditto Marg.... we have exactly the same... and it's great, not only for spiders but for flies, wasps etc....

I went round the room and relocated 15 of the little buggers to the garden

I don't mind a few spiders - I actually like them but OH really does not like them so I had to make the appropriate gesture.
He is not scared of them - just does not like them hanging around.
Me - I don't care. 

Yeah, me too Issy. I don't mind them through the day, I just don't want to share my bedroom with them at night.  You never know where they get to!

I love spiders and leave them be.If my niece  is around I have to capture and release them as she shrieks the house down if she spots one.

I see you Cologne  i started a thread the other day about *what's for dinner* and someone said we aren't allowed to say mushy peas around you and some of us wondered why?

 I have no idea about the mushy peas. Fair enough I don't like them, but I don't think I ever posted about that and my granddaughter loves them, so I have to put up with them now and again.

I'm wondering how the hell we got from spiders to mushy peas  we are the world's best at taking threads OT

awwwwwwww no , this is why i'm  glad asda sell cheap slippers .............   i skelp them to dust with a slipper then shudder all the way to the bin  ................. then buy new slippers   my skin is crawling even typing this

Apparently spiders hate the smell of conkers.  I left little piles of conkers at either side of the threshold to all my doors, and in every fireplace, last year, and I didn't see one big spider in the house.

PMSL Lexi, how do you  transport them to the bin?  In the slipper? or on the bottom of it 

I shall hunt for conkers tomorrow Growly  I may not find any, given that I live in a town, but hey...
