Leverage, a major new American TV series debuts tonight on Freeview on Channel One (what was Virgin 1, don't confuse with BBC1) at 9pm.

User reviews on the IMDB website are drawing comparisons with the likes of Mission Impossible, Oceans 11, and the A Team amongst others.

Taken from IMDB:
Former insurance agency investigator Nathan Ford heads a team of former top-criminals. They handle 'unorthodox' cases of people unlikely to get their dues through regular channels and legal procedures. That often involves stinging or otherwise scamming criminals. Nate's team is altered at times, and his professional as well as personal past repeatedly seems to catch up

For anyone who likes top quality escapist American TV, this would seem to be essential viewing.

(and hopefully makes up for yesterday's Seven Days)

The Equaliser was another series which Leverage has been compared to. Banacek (with George Peppard) is another (apologies if I mispelt Banacek)

Nothing, nothing could make up for that misconceived, reprehensible dross!

But thanks for the heads up there El Loro... Sounds very like our own excellent 'Hustle' (Robin Hood for the 21st Century) which I love, so I'll definitely give it a go!

I saw Leverage last night and it seems quite promising.

Xochi is right, it has similarities with Hustle, but combined with a touch of Mission Impossible. (And a touch of Lost in that it uses flashbacks of characters' pasts).

It is repeated today at 8 pm.
