I would be in tears too having no talent of my own and not being allowed to sing a song from one of music's true legends. She must have been gutted. I still don't get the X Factor logic that you can be talented by singing other people's songs while being completely and utterly incapable of producing one of your own. Funny old world innit. Bye Velvets, hello Jedward.
Spot on, Prometheus, I'm glad to hear Lou Reed didn't let her sugar coat his song with X Factor smaltz.  Good for him and what a petulant spoilt little baby Susan Boyle is for throwing her toys out of the pram.

Alas! We'll never know. I'm still wondering WTF Mr Reed thinks he is. Listen to the Andy Warhol one, they could't even play their instruments. I do like Venus and All tomorrow's parties, though!
Sounds like he thinks he's a musician who thinks his artistic legacy matters and not just  more raw meat to be churned up and s*at out by the great Simon Cowell music destroying machine.

Artistic legacy my bottom. It didn't stop the three hit wonder letting all sorts of dross murder the song before. Where was the harm in letting SuBo do the same? The guy is an arse! They'll be banning t'X Factor and Karaoke next. (Actually that's  not a bad thing!)

A definition of talent... "a person who possesses unusual innate ability in some field or activity" So I am afraid to say that it is perfectly acceptable that someone can have a natural talent at singing, even though they cannot write their own stuff.
