I hope one of you lovely FMs can advise me on this.

The OH recently claimed back PPI Payments from Barclaycard, he did this through a 3rd party who did all the work for him...(I could've done it but of course he knows best )....

..anyways, Barclaycard offered him a refund of the monies he had paid so far, this was to be sent to the 'recovery company' by cheque so they could take their fee and forward the remaining amount to the OH.

Instead of doing the above, Barclaycard have paid the full amount off his outstanding balance on his card!!! Can they do this? He hasn't had late payments and pays more than the minimum each month....

I have written to them and he's phoned them but haven't had a reply to the letter yet.

The thing is, he needs at least some of the money to pay the recovery company....

What do you think? Are Barclaycard within their rights to do this????
