Most viewers don't go to Forums or use You Tube and judge him on what they see on the HL Show.  He was funny, good at the tasks, a shoulder to cry on and read a bible.
He also had his Church machine behind him voting.

I guess he came across as a quirky old fashioned eccentric.

Careful editing and no negative pick ups on him on any of the spin off shows.They all went along with the "Jolly" monk routine.Hypocrital fecker's the lot of them.

I can't say that you were wrong, because everybody interprets things differently. All I can say is that I saw the good in him, as opposed to the bad that some people on the forum were seeing. It could be because I've lived my life around wind up merchants like Dave; those that do make light of every situation and will at times drive a wind-up in fifth gear.

I really liked the guy, and I think that he did have a good heart, even if at times his wind-ups did run the risk of seeming underhand.

Just personal reason Brisket but once I got the hang of Dave's humour I could see why he was popular with the gp. Ok. his soh obviousy wasn't popular with a lot here, it was seen as sarcastic, and that's how I saw it too for some time, later I realised most of it was banter so I didn't take him seriously like some obviously did

I know we disagree on Josie but she was up against utter plebs. If she hadn't got voted into the final she would (and on balance, should) have been there anyway. It would just have been nice to see her up against people who were really popular instead of people everyone forgot were still in the house or Dave who squirmed through by floating under the radar. I'm making an uneasy peace here

He benefited from the John James 'Golden Halo' (see also Keeva) whereby the teen vote that dominated this years BB considered him cool by association and was never going to vote him out!

I can't explain it. I didn't even have live feed, but the HLs were enough for me to see what a sly, spiteful and full-of-himself arse he was.
