I know that the eviction odds are heavily stacked against Jo to go this Friday, but the bookies can only take those odds from people who actually bet. So I was just interested in how many of you actually place money on the evictees. I don't and I don't know anyone who actually does. So how reliable are these odds?

The bookies are aware that some big betters back their bets with votes and also do their research on forums and facebook to see how people are likely to vote. I do a weekly survey on BB for a survey that has links to betting. I don't bet myself but I understand that that guy who was Karly's boyfriend last year is part of a betting syndicate that take a close interest in BB.
Here's a link to the current results of this weeks survey

that could be why they have got it wrong a few times so far
Some people bet on anything. You only have to look at some of the bookies websites to see the sort of things on offer.
I doubt many ordinary fand and forumers bet heavily on BB, - it is more likely to be the ardent gambler.
By and large I'd say the prices on offer do reflect the amount of money placed, and are adjusted to comensate for potential big losses.
However bookies can also call one's bluff. They can create false prices and false markets, to enourage targetted betting (for or against.)

I know bookies don't often get it wrong Kimota, but is this method nearly always correct? Thanks for the insight by the way Whats your tip this Friday?Reference:

I put small bets on for the overall winner: Corin, JJ and Josie.......I later put a bet on for Sam when I saw his v early popularity, at 18/1

Fingers crossed thats the case this week eh Brisket
The bookies are "sometimes" wrong, however when the odds are this one sided, you can assume they are correct.
The Tweenie fans aren't allowed to bet and usually vote in their droves on Friday nights, so most of them will watch the HLs and vote against whoever JJ and Co don't like this week among the potential evictees. I expect it will be Jo because she has said she doesn't like JJ and yet is crawling around him and because of her whingeing on all week....very easy option and the Tweenie vote won't be split

My tip would be Jo but Ken (Karly's ex) thinks sam will go in a suprise result!
Interestingly on that survey I posted a link to, Sam's support is much less than on the forums! i don't know if it is any more representative of wider voting patterns though! Surveys are self-selecting and maybe J.J, Josie and Corin supporters have characteristics that make them more likely to respond to surveys

Nooooooooooo! Not Sammy P!
But isn't Sammy favourite to win BB (with the bookies)?

Don't believe it myself, the idea might come from a story on DS and in The Star today that the nastier section of J.J's fans that have been running the illegal campaigns on Twitter (voting scams) have targeted Sam. It was actually wrong! The number given to supposedly win tickets to a Justin Bieber gig was actually for Jo not Sam !
but betfair isn't a bookie.... its the ebay of betting... its people, anybody, me included, taking bets from other people...
and those that do it on big brother tend to be viewers... hence the odds tend to get set by these betting viewers.
I don't know it for certain... but I could swear sometimes the bookies set their odds by what they see going on on betfair.
