An extract from Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 13:12-14 (New International Version)

12 "Say to them: 'This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Every wineskin should be filled with wine.' And if they say to you, 'Don't we know that every wineskin should be filled with wine?' 13 then tell them, 'This is what the LORD says: I am going to fill with drunkenness all who live in this land, including the kings who sit on David's throne, the priests, the prophets and all those living in Jerusalem. 14 I will smash them one against the other, fathers and sons alike, declares the LORD. I will allow no pity or mercy or compassion to keep me from destroying them.' "
El Loro
"Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." Luke 6:38

Dave offers his housemates love and compassion, and so he receives the same in return.

Dave clearly has our lord (in the glory) on his side.

Well, I've just read Jeremiah 25 verses 15 to 39 which include the bit about drink, get drunk and vomit. And Leccy is right, Jeremiah is portraying God as thoroughly vengeful against the evils of excessive drinking. I don't somehow think Dave has read this part of the Bible.
Interesting, thanks.

I did say at the start of this series I couldn't imagine God being impressed with all this drunk/jacked up business...and I'm an atheist!
