IF any of the housemates constantly referred to Dave as a 'bible basher', or constantly called Josie 'Wurzel' or something like that...
but its OK for Dave/Nathan to keep referring to Ben as Fauntelroy/Raffles... because he has a posh voice and is educated - is that OK???
Ben has gone out of his way (posh or not) to make friends with ALL of the housemates (even the lowest of the low) - yet certain of his fellow housemates cant see/hear past his voice and automatically are suspicious of him... I'm sure is prejudice/discrimination of some sort (discrimination probably quite a harsh word - but can you see what I'm saying?)
thoughts anyone?

Bliz - I was making a 'class' reference, not necessarily what I think - they are scared of him BECAUSE of his class - whereas HE isnt bothered WHAT class they are - he has tried to get on with all of them
IMO, they are questioning his beliefs and ideology, and quite rightly.

If he acts as though he is the elite and should be pandered to, they will rib him about it.

I am not getting into this class thing Barmy I love a posh voice Ben Fogle swoon but I like him for the person he is not because he has a posh  voice, I also love the liverpool accent etc I dont like nicknames either wether you are posh or the lowest of the low whatever that means,I do think they all like Ben they have said he is funny etc even if they do argue with each other,it is his selfish attitude not wanting to do the tasks etc that is starting to grate on them, and how do you define class having a posh accent does not automatically say you have class ..

my point is they ARE picking on his because of his class, we had the same scenario last year with that idiot Kris and his cronies - scared of the posh boy - whereas BEN is not differentiating between any of them because of where they come from or what education they had.  Ben isnt singling out any particular housemate for any particular reason.  And yes, I agree Marge - having a posh accent does not necessarily equate with 'class'.

Nathan has been saying that his first impression of Ben was what we all felt that he was going to be an insufferable snob.  But Ben is not like that and Nathan has now realised that.  One of the reasons that I like Ben is that I, like many other FM's have got pretty fed up with the wannabees.  Ben is a refreshing change in my viewpoint.

Unfortunately I havent got time to list the insults hurled at Ben simply because of his posh voice
I completely understand that Ben gets a torrent of abuse due to his accent, upbringing. however I was just pointing out that it is not one way traffic, and also in occasions like the one above he almost warrants some of the flack by acting superior.

I dislike the way people call JJ, peroide head or Barbie boy, Caoimhe as Kevin or Keeva etc. But thats just me.

I call him Barbie Boy,reason being is he has Barbie dolls, odd I know but he's quite proud he owns a dark haired one....You never know your luck RR you be lucky enough to meet a fellow Barbie loving bloke,if you play your cards right he might even let you dress them and brush their hair.
