Per this BBC news item, Jonathan Ross has just signed an ITV contract to present a new chat show. His last edition of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross is next Friday 16th.

The article doesn't say when the new show will start, but it will be prime time on ITV1.

I admit I have never liked Ross, and stopped watching Film 2008,9,10 etc when he took over presenting. I'm hoping that whoever takes over from him on Film will be able to do a better job of it.

I think ITV is going downhill fast, particularly on the drama side. Apart from the soaps, they have axed almost all long running drama series. Their policy is to deliberately show series in bits and pieces on varying days or times with the intent to drive audiences away, so that they can then subsequently announce that they are axing the series due to falling numbers.

As I don't watch Coronation Street or Emmerdale, and don't follow the likes of X-factor and Britain's got talent, for all practical purposes ITV1 no longer exists for me. And Ross is hardly going to encourage me to switch back to ITV.

Claudia Winkleman, apparently.
Oh well. Thanks for that. Apparently she hates Harrison Ford so if she has to interview him, that could be quite interesting.

I agree Mark Kermode would do an excellent job. I would have liked to have seen Marilla Frostrup in the role - she was one of the other candidates for the job at the time that they went for Ross.
