O/T What on earth does "cockle" mean?

Im absolutely baffled, I had taken part in an advert to promote the *Big One 2" Rugby league match between Wigan v Warrington game last week. We were in line waiting for instructions and everyone was having a laugh, then one guy told this lad when its his shot to say "Two tickets please cockle" when he goes up to the window

Its been bothering me for ages and can't find what it means anywhere

Years ago my friend left Scotland to work in Sheffield.He was in a small shop buying a few things ,he then asked the cashier for a" poke" ,and she called for the manager thinking he was being rude!

In Ireland frivolities and jollies are referred to as 'craic' (crack). My elderly aunt went to the States a few years back and got odd looks when she kept asking the cabin crew where she could get a good bit of craic when she got off the plane

Really? Ah well it is a celtic sounding word so that makes sense I suppose.

My favourite welsh expression has to be "now in a minute". That is superb ! I use that a lot s well,

My mam calls people cockle......but i'm north of the Burry Estuary and our cockles are less posh than the Gower ones

My grandfather`s name was Cocker (not his real name) but his parents were Cockney and apparently Cocker is a Cockney term for a spoilt child. Me ol` Cocker.

`me ol` cocker` has continued as a term of affection in our family.
