At first I thought she was a bit of a sheep, but glad to see her speaking her mind, and being her own person.

she let herself down badly there. The way she spoke to Ben when he told her about the hot water was calm and what he needed to hear but then she spoiled it by opening her mouth to the scissor sisters and ruined it all
I don't think she told them with a malicious heart, I think she just said as they were being overbearing and forceful. Ife seems quite laid back, but clued up at the same time. So far I'm liking her a lot more since she broke away from the othet two nutters.
She can't keep her mouth shut, apart from that I quite like her.
scissor sisters? What do we call gay men then?
It's good to see Ife come out of the shadows of the other two though

that's the problem SR, I don't think she has broken away from the other two - yet! Also she's not going to be considered a trustworthy house mate if she blabs at the first chance I know what Ben said wasn't in confidence but she could have kept it to herself and refused to say who was responsible. I have high hopes for her though when she does finally see the light and leaves those two harridans behind

Jeebus is there anyone on this flipping forum that doesn't see malice and offence in everything that's written I think it's best if I back away from this forum now cos I'll end up saying something I may regret later.

But it was, Ben was having kittens in case JJ found out. She reassured him that it would be ok, no one will know.
no it's a forum you're free to use whatever terms you like but I'm also free to point out it's homophobic. I bet you wouldn't go in a gay bar and refer to the lesbians as 'scissor sisters' to their faces. or if you called a lesbian at work that she'd have a good case for discrimination based on sexuality. So yes there are plenty who would take issue with it.
Ife is nice, calm in what is a tempremental house and on the LF has actually had some interesting conversations.

Why? Aren't they a pop group? Reference:

They certainly are Baz and nobody seems to accuse them of being homophobic for using the lesbian termanalogy..(excuse dreadful spelling)

I explained to Moomin about earlier, if you meant me. I'd just seen Dave acting like a total pillock in a wheechair and was upset...It's hard sometimes when you aren't exactly sure where people are coming from and we all bring with us our own life experiences and baggage to the forum.
I wouldn't get upset, it didn't help me earlier today did it?

Well I never even knew it was anything else Fairfax..... and I've got lesbian friends, so ....Reference:

yes they are a pop group and their name refers to a sexual position. Fine, they are calling themselves the Scissor Sisters, however to use the term to refer to someone who is gay and someone who you think might be just smacks of a lazy way of insulting them as let's face it, it wasn't used as an term of endearment - why do you need a name to call them? it ain't the words it's how their used but again I shouldn't be surprised as this same old crap comes up every year.Reference:

Well Missus, best you sit down with them over a pint of wine or two and get them talking.

No it wasn't anything to do about you Leccy although I will have to make a mental note to myself that sometimes trying to say something that I think is funny doesn't always go well with everyone.
There's too much walking on egg shells in this place lately in case you upset someone and I can't be doing with it so it's best if I confine myself to certain freds where I won't cause any trouble

I hear what you are saying Jonono, and respect your point of view, but don't you think that perhaps you have over-reacted a little bit.

Yes people always find terms that aren't particularly nice about the people they don't like but as you say it happens year after year so what's the problem?
You appear to be the only one taking offence here. If others feel same then fair enough. I for one won't be using the term again. You're reading meaning into this that just isn't there and it's saying more about you than effect it's having.
There are ways and means of putting your point across without causing fall out. It's not the words you've used but the tone behind that have caused me offence.

tbh, in my last post i was referring to rubbing and such, but now i think about it may have some thing to do dildos and various equipment, i have no idea really.
Not a film buff then Jackson?
see now i think, thespians would have do it sideyways, and that can play havoc with your hips, spose they could try missionary, but not sure that produce the goods, but who am i to say.
well uness they have invested in a sealy posturepedic matress with pocket springs that is
I don't think it was meant as a cutting remark.

Very true ...............but this is an open forum .............I don't see it as homophobic - it's simply banter. I don't like to see people jumped on for what is really a throw away remark. We are all here to debate/chat and have a laugh aren't we? PC can be taken too far IMO. There was nothing malicious in that post - why make an issue of it?Reference: SuzyB
