Gloucestershire had a good first day at Leicestershire today closing on 385 for 2.
That includes an opening partnership of 316 between Cameron Bancroft and Ben Charlesworth. That beat the previous record for an opening partnership against Leicestershire of 315 back in 1937. That was by Yorkshire,
The two Yorkshire players wee Herbert Sutcliffe and Len Hutton. Anyone who is interested in cricket is likely to heard of that two,

I’m not a cricket fan El….but remember Len Hutton from my youth

Gloucestershire has just declared on 706 for 6 - their highest ever score in their history. (nowhere near the record in county championship which was Yorkshire's 887 back in 1896)

Slim, little new of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel. . Next Saturday at 15.35 is "The Story of Robin Hood" (1952) which starred Richard Todd. It was Walt Disney's second live action film (the first being "Treasure Island"). It's a British film and some of it was filmed in Sherwood Forest. A good film  which relies more on the story rather than personalities.

Thank you El

I've seen both those films...admittedly it was many years ago, but I remember the joy of watching them

"scraps digital landline switch deadline" in the headline and "significantly delayed plans" in the first paragraph of this BBC news article doesn't quite match a delay from end of 2025 to January 2027 (so just over a year):
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5119g5z4q5o
It's those with personal alarms linked to their landline who are most affected

We're already on wifi landline, which doesn't work if the internet goes down
They're counting on everyone having a smart mobile phone in order to go online to complain or access the link they send out with details of fault...

My brother's landline was switched over to digital a few weeks ago. As you say, doesn't work if the internet goes down, or there's a power cut.

Did my local shopping this morning rather than tomorrow which is likely to be the wettest day so far this year - 30mm quite possible. Not as bad as further north

We're expecting thunderstorms today and tomorrow

I see that you've got a Met Office warning for those today, Slim, but not tomorrow

Yeah, no warnings, but the symbols are shown from 9am till 1pm tomorrow
Makes no odds really, I've no plans to go out during those times El

Hope it's not too bad for you

Lori has suggested starting a new thread for those threads with large numbers of replies as it should be faster to post to a new thread.

So I've just started a new thread:
https://www.gagajoyjoy.com/topic/ben-s-buddies-2

So try posting in that new thread rather than this one.
