There's a bloke a few desks away from me in work, and he's been coughing his guts up all day. Sounds like he's bringing up half a lung every time he starts hacking.
a) He should be at home, instead of making this place sound like a TB ward and putting the rest of us at risk of catching it
b) If he really does think he's that indispensible (he isn't) can't he at least cough into a snotrag instead of spewing it all over the office?

AAARRRGHHH!!!

Hmmn depends on the management etc.My niece has huge tonsils , when she gets a throat infection they practically touch each other,so any time a cold goes round it hits her hard. She is asthmatic so a tonsellectomy is a big no no .These days they are very reluctant to   do an op especially on an adult.
She's had some time off work due to chest infections, not weeks just days but  three times in a year so she got referred to an in house health doctor...she now has to have  a year free of any illness! WTF! as if that is in your control. Her union is taking it up.Barstewards! I'd go round and sort them out...ahem.

To be fair I've been coughing and sniffing alot lately bu its hayfever causing that FOR THE FIRST TIME AT 47!!!
I was talking to someone yesterday and she is really suffering badly from hay fever this time. I think it's because of spring starting late which has resulted in a greater amount of pollen being released all at once. Also I don't think the volcanic ash in the atmosphere would have helped - and there's plenty of that around as I'm sure many will have found their cars being far dirtier than normal.

Deman I know you hate that job, but this person probably does too and just thinks s/he has to turn up so as not to lose it. You did say a while back that there was talk of redundancies. If anything the ones who are left feel even more obliged. I apologise if I'm completely wrong here.
You're way off the mark, but never mind
No-one loses their job here for being sick, the redundancies are way in the past and he's semi-management, who never lose theirs anyway.

Hurrah! Maybe he heard everyone muttering about him yesterday, because he doesn't seem to be here today!
