Anyone read A Suitable Boy - Vikram Seth - really long, and din't think I'd like it, but was hooked.
I started that several years ago ......got about a third if the way through and then lost interest. I like books on India ...........one of my faves is 'The God of Small Things' brilliant book.

If you're looking for a real thick, chunky book for your hols - I suggest 'Pillars of the Earth - Ken Follet ' that's a real good holiday read IMO.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh I know it's not the same but - I went to see Willy russells 'Blood Brothers' in January starring Mel c from the Spice Girls......................................absoloutely bloody brilliant. Anyone else seen it?
Me Soozy but not with Mel C. I saw it with Barbara Dickson...she was the first to play the part. I`ve never been a great fan of hers but I thought she was excellant in that role.
Glad you enjoyed it..it`s a brilliant play. I love Willy Russel`s work.

Just to say that I read The Lovely Bones on my holiday and couldn't put it down - though I had to to go sightseeing lol!!
I found parts of it strange, but the odd thing is (which I didn't know when I bought it) is that is was taking place in the area of the US where I was holidaying!! Maybe that made it extra-absorbing for me. I found the ending a bit unsatisfactory too.

I'd recommensame books and lots of other stuff)d Sophie's Choice - had me in tears.   But avoid the film as it's not so good even though Meryl Streep is in it
OMG!!!!!!! It must be well over twenty years since I read that ...............an amazing book - my best friend was coincidentally reading it at the same time (it was quite spooky that we'd often choose thesame books etc). sadly i lost my BF some years ago- I miss her in many different ways but she was my book buddy.
