If you're having a Safari Supper Soozy, then why don't you make a dessert from a country that actually has Safaris?.....a quick goolge search has lead me to this

PASSION FRUIT BAVARIAN CREAM

(Zimbabwe)
Yield: 1 quart

Passion-fruit juice may be obtained in gourmet food and specialty shops. If not available, use apricot nectar.

Dissolve: 1 7 1/2-oz. package ORANGE GELATIN DESSERT in

<dl><dt>1 1/2 cups BOILING WATER.

Add 2 cups PASSION-FRUIT JUICE.



Chill until mixture begins to set. Stir well



Whip 1 cup HEAVY CREAM until stiff.



Fold whipped cream into the partially stiffened gelatine.



Pile Iightly into wine glasses.



Decorate with a mound of toasted coconut in center of each dessert.

The only cake I can make cos it requires no oven

Chocolate digestive cake

Boil some water in a saucepan. In a glass bowl on it, melt a pack of chocolate.

Crush a packet of plain digestives.

If you want, cut up some glace cherries.

Mix the chocolate, digestives (and cherries if applicable).

Line a baking tray with grease paper and put the mixture in it. Spread out evenly.

Refridgerate. Shouldn't take more than a day.

Et voila

Sooz - I read that to mean that it was African food or something. I've now googled it and I understand - duh

Well - how about chocolate dipped strawberries? Do some in milk chocolate, some in plain, some in white and serve with some homemade biscuits.

Or fruit salad - there's loads of lovely stuff about atm, and cream (and maybe homemade biscuits)

Thank you but - it's not actually a Safari theme ......it simply means a mob of sixty meet up in the village hall and we move in groups from house to house for different courses - the Safari was probably a bit misleading.

That sounds nice ........maybe I'll do that with some grapes dipped in caster sugar. I've tried out a chocolate and hazelnut panna cotta tonight .........it was lovely so I'll stick to that. Individual lemon tarts - vodka jellies in shot glasses - to start and good old trifle to fall back on.


At present I'm not sure how many peeps - 10 possibly 12 but thank you all for your suggestions.



So's not to dissapoint Suzy ..........phew!

Oooooooooooh yeah - even better. The thing is - I have a sneaky suspicion that by the time the peeps get to me at the dessert course they'll all be well oiled ...........along with the vodka jellies spiked strawberries will have them absoloutely reeling. 

I would love to say - the village will never have seen anything like it as people make their way home but ...............alas - it's a regular occurrence in our association.
