C'mon peeps......is it not time to stop being 'sat on' and stick up for ourselves?
I'd stick up for us any day I just don't like the "extras" on the flag. I prefer the traditional version.

The need to stick up for ourselves is heavily exaggerated though. Every rumour I've ever heard about banned flags always seems to have no basis in fact.

Except maybe the Emirates one? Cos I hadn't heard about that Common sense always prevails in the end though.

No it was really true Ducky, I didn't know the origin behind the ban until I was reading about it today. It was a Cypriot thing apparently, the Greek Cypriots reacted to a Turkish Cypriot flag at the Emirates so the board just banned every flag.
Fair enough some might say but this IS England - and I (along with loads of Gooners) was really miffed at the overkill. Because so many complained they have rescinded the ban.

Ahhh I see, thanks Veggie.  Stupid decision and I'm glad it was reversed.

I'm pleased to see it was not specific to the England flag though..... leaves me free to continue pointing and laughing at all the FB groups stressing about our pretty red cross.

A bit off topic but I LOVE flags! I have a bit of a collection. A very useless collection as I've nowhere to put them. Well that's not quite true.....I could put them anywhere I suppose.... but it would look a bit daft.

mmmm...  we got to meet n greet them at the Leeds Festival... on our way to the meet n greet (herded by a clipboard lady) we realised we had nothing for them to sign (the kids weren't keen on the "mummy's boobs" idea)... so I quickly bought a couple of england flags.

I propelled two children towards Chester (hubba hubba) & Mike Shinoda (& the rest of them)...  I just drooled & went starstruck...   the kids were cool as cucumbers and had a banter with them!

Plenty of those flags in Brum this weekend Sarum, Pride weekend.  Going to have a look down there later on and meet my college mate who is down for the weekend with his partner. We always go to Pride and then hit the pubs later on.

Re the England flag, I have 2.  One that is displayed outside on St Georges Day and when the World Cup is on and one that has West Brom on that sometimes goes to matches.  I really like to see all the flags being flown regardless of what country they are from, when the Dutch were playing group matches at Villa Park in Euro '96, there were loads of Dutch flags about with the Cross of St George and it was great.  I will only fly the Cross of St George though, the Union Flag to me still has NF connections sadly.

I am a Scot, married to an Englishman. We always viewed the Union Jack as our flag, as it signified the union of our nations. It saddens me that it has been hijacked by right-wing groups.
I agree Yogi, but I think that the only way they can hijack the flag is if we let them.  I am proud of the flag of St. George and of the Union Jack and I respect those in this union who are proud of their respective national flags.  Don't let them win is what I say.
