I have to put chicken wire over my rows of seedlings,we have feral pigeons all over the shop. They don't eat the seedlings etc just their big old feet trample them. They hang around the bird feeders waiting for the fallouts etc, sometimes there can be twenty or so pigeons wandering around.
Although we have a sparrowhawk that takes the odd one out.

Ahh that sounds great, though red Kite are scavengers rather than attack birds. The sparrowhawk is fab to watch  (unless you're a pigeon etc).We are in a suburban area so it's great to see them. They dive in fast hoping to make a quick snatch of a small bird,if they miss they brake and land on the ground and run after them into the shrubs etc.By that time the savvy sparrows etc go into dense undergrowth to avoid them. The poor old pigeons usually get a sparrowhawk landing on their back breaking it,then they get a quick few pecks to back of the neck, dispatching them.

My niece saw one  catch a pigeon on the ground  in the garden and was all for running out and chasing the sparrowhawk,I told her too late it's back is broken, the sparrowhawk will finish it off.Not cruel, just nature.
