We now have our first batch of fledgling Starlings etc,in the garden begging for food from their parents.Noisy birds but they are now reduced in numbers.I've also got baby sparrows doing the same.So good to see them thrive ..despite the fecking Magpies.and the local moggies... I'm on the case of the moggies,A super jet soaker up their one eye sees them off.

Nah,just a minute or so of daft noises at 'em. Then they are off, they run from the living room into the hall and then into my room where their cages are. They know their routine.

I cant stand those feckin magpies..coming home from work I seen 2 of them pecking and killing a wee sparrow
I love our Starlings! All the other neighbours entice the dainty birds to their garden, we have the mob of starlings (who are just funny... they are like keystone cops when we put the food out for them).
We also have the magpies & a jay. I love magpies too... they are beautiful. (sorry Elkie... but what they do is just nature... cats kill way more of the baby birds than the magpies do... so I just can't hold that against them. Besides they aren't half as vicious as robins, and I still love them too).

We had 7 magpies yesterday making a hell of a racket in the tree in front of our house yesterday! It was an amazing sight as they continually swooped in and out the tree!
Awwww.... they will be juvenilles! Magpie youffs!
Apparently they hang around in gangs (usually gender specific.. gangs of boys or gangs of girls)... then when they meet "the one"... the partner up with their mate for life.
If one of the pair dies the other will then lose the will to live & basically stop looking after itself & eventually die itself.
Hence the 1 for sorrow, 2 for joy, 3 for a girl.... etc
