I was alerted to the Freddie forum by others who were shocked at the level of malice in what looked at first glance to be a harmless fan thread.
I've mostly managed to ignore you, which is obviously the best policy, except when you insist on sticking your oar in. Please do carry on in your own "sweet" way - didn't know you did irony as well!

That's exactly what happened before I got my first letter....I'd been taking the pish out of my dad who had just had to sit through a month's worth of blah blah in an extremely complex fraud case. He looked absolutely shattered the poor man, but we still all had a giggle at him.

We have all been on the electoral roll all our adult lives.  God hope I aren't jinxing it as well.

Oooooooooh how exciting. I've been called twice (many years ago) both times I was excused because I had three very young kids. Once was London Bridge .....the other time The Old Bailey ......................there were a few in the vicinity called at the time - one sat on the PC Blakelock case ..........in all honesty I'd have loved to have done it but I've never been called since.

I've been called three times, once for the High Court,Twice for the Sheriff's court (Scotland.).T he first time my no. in the batch of fifty potential jurors was not called and I was not needed at all, thank goodness .The High court deals in murder and serious crime. The second time I wasn't well and on medication so got an medical exemption letter.
The third time was a pain,it was last March,we had to attend and waited about an hour and half,Then the court official stated we were not needed,a guilty plea was entered,we had to attend the next day.Again waited and sent home ,lawyers had reached agreements etc.
The third day we were called into the court and judge and the accused were there with both sets of lawyers. The list of charges were read out, child sex abuse in graphic detail. In Scotland the juries consist of 15 not 12 so no tied verdicts.I wasn't selected, thank god.Back the next day ,That sex case collapsed  due to someone on the jury stating something inappropriate..
The next day they took pity on us as we had been messed about and our batch of 50 was discharged.

Had the misfortune  pleasure of sitting in the Glasgow High Court when a renowned comedian  hard man conducted his own defence.   Was like something straight out of the Weekly News and I seriously had to stifle my giggles most of the time!      <---still in hiding from the mob, cos he was found guilty!

hope it went well Demantoid

I was chosen for jury service when i was 18 and got picked for the first case of the day - i was shitting myself   we found him guilty and i was quite pleased with myself (and the rest of the jury) when they read out his long list of previous convictions and revealed that he was actually released from prison for the trial - that was until someone else owned up

i would still like to do it again though

my mum was gutted cos I was chosen and she never had been she is 70 in August so think its too late for her now
