I think we are seeing and hearing many examples of people who cannot get their head round a different system. They cannot comprehend the situation. I think many are scared to let go of the only political way they know, and they cannot do that necessary mind-shift and start thinking on a different plane.
I  agree Brisket.......but personally I think it is the only chance the country has.......

I agree with this and I am willing to - perhaps Labour will also change to respond to society - change is good - the trouble is the statics in this country are the peeps with INHERITED wealth  but heigh ho i can live with that providing they consider poor folks in their policies

Coalition and compromise can and do work and can be made to work. The examples we are given by those who don't like it, are from places where it has not worked. They choose to overlook that it can and does work. They are just upset and may get over it in time.
So, if it does work - and it is successful; the coalition government will presumably fight the next election as one party?

Oh no. I hope not. That would mean we would still be stuck in a 2-party system.

I certainly want each party to fight an election as the party it is. IF it results in a coalition, so be it.

As long as the most vulnerable pensioners etc dont suffer by reducing or taking away their heating allowance free bus pass etc all speculation at the moment ...
I agree it may be speculation but if it ever happened there would surely be a public outcry. Global warming doesn't mean warmer Winters as we've all experienced. It would be an absolute disgrace to reduce the Winter Fuel Allowance, far too Dickensian an idea, they should increase it!!!

I was thinking about this today about credit cards some people just live beyond their means, I have never had one nor do I ever want one..
Another topic by you that caught my eye lol. I watch a programme called the Bank of Mum and Dad. Basically about someone around the age of 25/35 who's lifestyle has taken them into debt from anything between around ÂĢ25.000 to ÂĢ100.000. Through these men/women being able to have so many credit cards and loans is what's helped them to live beyond their means. Then reality is forced on them of how long it will take them to get rid of those debts. Mum or Dad lives with them for a week and takes away all their credit cards, mobile phone and cash and gives them a budget to live on way less than what they've been living on. A financial expert is called in to spell it out in no uncertain terms to the debtor - who's been living in denial - where they've wasted money, borrowed too much, haven't paid debts and where they're headed financially, either to bankruptcy or having to deal with debt for 10/30 years. That usually wakes them up, eventually, as they don't give in easily to change. Interesting programme about today's lifestyle for many.

We will have a two party system come the next election – if the Lib Dems are not going to be pushing their unique/alternative polices during the current administration they will lose their identity, and with it their appeal, by 2015.

I’m not convinced that compromise will be a good thing for the Lib Dems in the long run.
