If you're talking about Virgin Cable, then yes it is good.  If you're talking about Virgin ADSL (internet via the phone line) then no it terrible.

I am currently speaking to you using that technology. No issues. You still get all the Sky channels if you want 'em, but without the interference whn it rains.

I suggest you look at the Virgin Media website to assess the range of packages available. Broadband can be set at a maximum of 10mb, 20mb or 50mb, depending as to what you want, though I think the maximum available may vary from area to area. Note that these figures are at the maximum possible, in practice as we all know the reality is somewhat less. The site asks you for your postcode to let you know what services are available.
As GJ has already pointed out, the Sky channels are available, though obviously some you have to pay extra for.
I am not yet on Virgin, but am thinking about it, so I will also be interested in other peoples' views.
ADSL connections do depend as to how far you are from the BT exchange - the speed deteriorates significantly the further away you are. For anyone on ADSL and looking at their speed, this kitz site looks very informative. In fact, having looked at this site further, it seems to be essential reading for all internet users whether on phone lines or cable or Sky.

We have Sky for the telly...  but Virgin Broadband for the internet.

& I have to say I am happy with my broadband service.

are you on about the exchange El Loro?   tis true...  I am virtually on top of our exchange so have good connection speed.

My parents are unlucky enough to be the furthest line from their exchange and their service is so bad that they have downgraded their ISP (no point if the maximum speed possible is always gonna be slooooooow).

I have checked and you are correct, the word is Exchange.

Hopefully when FTTC is widespread it won't matter anymore how far away from the exchange you live.  But that is looking a year or more from now, in the meantime we must continue to suffer.

We've had the full virgin thing for years now....tv, phone and broadband...we've found it very reliable

aw... poor parents.    Over the years as more and more of the neighbours have gone online... they have watched their connection speed drop and drop and drop!

I've had the Virgin phone, broadband tv package for just over a year, and though I've had three small problems, they haven't been too bad at fixing them, though it was extremely frustrating the time the phone went and I had to use my mobile credit to let them know!

See I've had mine for about 6 years and have only had a couple of small outages in that time lasting a couple of hours tops....
