I decided last night that I do not like the tv debates.
While I think they are being handled better than the American version, I have come to the conclusion that it trivialises everything.
Reduced to a television game, followed by a viewers vote.
It suddenly struck me how something so important and serious was being handled as a tatty competition.
I am sure many will not agree with me, but I think these debates have rather cheapened the campaign.

I predict a significantly higher voter turn out, thanks to these debates.  I agree it does trivialise things, but it seems a lot of people need trivial, often quick and memorable sound bites, or they won't even bother voting on polling day.  Remember that trust and belief in our political system has gone through the floor as a result of the economic crisis combined with political expenses and sleaze.  This could by rights have been one of the lowest attended election in history, but now could end up being one of the highest.
