loads of my ex's mates are contacting me on facebook-i dont get on with 'em but out of curiosity i answered one
turns out my ex-a violent one at that-is ill
and wants to be in touch with me
this person-female-tried to kill me about 20 years ago
so i moved away-kept away
20years is a long time-we've got no kids together
my girl says 'keep away-shes a nutcase!'
i agree
but i feel sorta guilty

cos this girl has always said we'd be together one day-but ive moved on-got no interest etc..
what would you do..?

Maybe it's because she felt guilty about the past she wanted to contact you. Now you've contacted her if it gets too personal or she shows interest in you let her know you have a gf and wish her well in recovery from her health condition

You've only got her word for that - she could be lying to get your sympathy. Going on her past history, she doesn't sound like the most trustworthy person, after all.
I'd feel sorry for her if she's so unhappy she needs to bother someone who cut all ties with her so long ago. But I'd still run a mile.
