I was telling my son about them a couple of weeks ago and we had a long discussion about how stupid it was to make the emergency number 999 because it would take you so long to call it.
A few hours later we watched Eddie Izzard's new DVD for the first time and he said the exact same thing. My son looked across in amazement at me as if I was Mystic Meg or summat.

LOL we HAVE one of those phones - its an ivory colour and still has the paper FOUR digit number used in 1970 in the dial
