Why does it only have to apply to race or colour or whatever the correct word is these days. What about pubs not allowing football colours? Or gay bars, why call them gay bars, is that not discriminatory?

No, because they don't stop straight people drinking in them. They identify themselves as gay bars because that way gay people know they won't get any hassle in them. But straights are generally welcome too.
