But but but but Didn't she say it's part of the job to do half an hour's cleaning every week? It's tough luck that it falls on a Friday. Both her boss - and her boss's boss - see it that way, at least.
Toid, I give up  We`re never going to agree on this. I said that a few pages back...I`m getting that groundhog day feeling...time to go

good analogy! So instead of going in on the thurs and sweeping for 7hrs would you do it for an hour say and not get paid?
No, it isn't. You don't spend a full day cleaning on Friday and you aren't being asked to cover all of the hours that you'd normally do. Just the little bit of cleaning you've already agreed is part of the job you're paid for.

Scotty, I quite agree, I'm out of here too - Groundhog Day it is! Next time I'll remember that when some people ask for others' opinions, what they really want is is universal agreement with theirs!

It was part of the person's job in the analogy to sweep the roads every week, but you didn't seem to think that they should have to do that on the Thurs   Like I say it's the principle, not that it's half an hour...so where do you draw the line, half an hour, 1 hour , 2 hours etc. etc.???

Difficult to say really as you can't compare one job with the other.  I think it's a 'straw that broke the camels back' type situation.  It depends on how you feel about your general pay and conditions.  If you feel you're already being pushed to the limits through pay and conditions , then it is an imposition for them to push even a tiny bit more.  If on the other hand, you're quite happy with pay and conditions, then it doesn't seem too much of a demand to me.
