Coronation Street superbitch Tracy Barlow is to concoct a false story in order to frame innocent Gail McIntyre for murder, it has been reported.

The twisted character, played by 32-year-old Kate Ford, will tell police that Gail (Helen Worth) caused the death of husband Joe by battering him with a rolling pin before hiding the 'weapon', according to The Sun.

It is thought that jailed Tracy comes up with the lie after Gail tells her that she hid a rolling pin on top of a bedroom wardrobe in order to stop poor cook Joe from baking potato pie.

In later scenes, police are expected to find the kitchen instrument exactly where Gail left it at the lakeside holiday cottage she shared with Joe before his death - making Tracy's tale appear true and the case against Gail grow stronger.

A Weatherfield source said: "Gail is terrified. She has to find a way to prove Tracy is lying."

As previously revealed, Tracy ends up sharing a prison cell with Gail after police enlist her to extract a confession from her former neighbour in return for an early release.

Despite detectives' suspicions, Joe's passing was an accident which took place after he made a bungled attempt to fake his own death while on his Lake District trip with Gail.

I must admit, I haven't missed Maria while she's been away on maternity leave. I think that's probably a sign that the character is pretty boring.

I quite like Becky when she's with Steve. I wouldn't care if they got rid of Sean, they don't do much with the character.

They will never get rid of Sean Yogi.. Antony Cotton has lots of links to the producers who adore him.

Liking Sophie, this lesbian storyline with Sian will be interesting for both of them and also when Rosie decides to support Sophie through it.

I was shocked (but pleased) that Rosie supports Sophie in the upcoming storyline.

I didn't realise Sean was "in" with the producers.

I didn't realise Sean was "in" with the producers.

Yeah they helped him get his silly crappy chatshow and gave him all these storylines plus an increase in his contract

This shoud be an interesting change in character for Rosie instead, i'm liking her although her goth days was when she was at her best
