That I haven't been eaten by anything or got any nasty diseases!!

Basically what has happened is that my modem broke the other week and won't let me onto the internet at all, I am saying that this is not my fault at all, the modem has not been moved, or damaged in any way and BT are saying they are not replacing the modem, which I have asked them to do.  So at the moment, I have a modem that doesn't work, refuse to pay the bill until I get the service I signed up for and no internet in the house at all apart from a link to FB via my mobile which is expensive and takes ages.  I'm cancelling the BT internet and their phone line and going to get a dongle (which sounds faintly rude!!) until I can find another ISP (probably Sky).

I hope everyone is ok, I really miss you all and will have to make more trips to the library to use the internet there until we are set up again.  Take care all xxx

Aww, I feel your pain PB, I've just had an enforced 'sabbatical' due my laptop breaking. It's horrible not being able to keep in touch. It's amazing really how much we depend on the net these days. Anyway, hope you get back soon.

I've been having problems with my broadband connection recently - sometimes it's working, sometimes not. That makes it almost impossible to prove where the problem is. I suspect its the phone wiring somewhere but whether its in the house or outside is not easy to determine (and no, I don't have a test socket available and anyway the phone is working OK).

Sometimes I find that is I unplug the connection somewhere along it's path, the signal comes back. Strangely enough I find that if I telephone my own phone number, wait for the engaged tone, then follow this by a 5 for ringback which of course can't be accepted, then put the phone down and wait for a few moments, the signal comes back, but this does not always work.

I had nothing but trouble with my BT internet connection so I ended up changing to Virgin.

Just to note if you do think of going for SKY don't they use a BT line and if you're withholding payment they'll cut your line off as well so you won't get any internet connection that way.

Hope you get some sort of service soon

I wondered where you were, missed you in the footy fred. I just thought that you were hanging on FB instead.
Hope you get the tinternet sorted out soon. My PC got a virus a while back which shut down my IE - it was a nightmare. I missed having the internet so much for the time it took to sort it out.
Be back soon hun

You're not alone Babe....  Ducky's struggling as well!

She said she was going to go to war with BT today.... and hasn't been seen since.

I am hoping she has ditched BT homehub & broadband & is currently sorting out her contract details with new ISP & unwrapping her new Netgear (or similar) router!

I'm with Virgin Mediorce for Broadband, but my modem only lets you plug in one computer, so I bought a Linsky router which plugs into the modem, I think the whole of effing Romford has tapped into it.

Blimey Pinky! We've been having the exact same discussion in the Bar on the Sinking Ship over the last day or too... Some of this may help you in your BT battle... read through a page or two to see if it's the same issues you're having... pay attention to the posts from Zaphod in particular... he might give you some signposts at least... or do just drop in and commiserate with Ducky!
