Never seen a peregrin but we do have sparrowhawks that come into the garden after the birds sometimes, they will sometimes pull up and land and run after the birds that try to hide in the shrubbery if they miss them with a grab .I usually shoo them away if I spot them doing that.
I get sparrowhawks in my garden, Katty. Hubby says they think my bird table is a take-away. One afternoon, I came home to find a sparrowhawk perched on the whirlygig, plucking a sparrow.

I love peregrine falcons, one of my favourite birds. They look like little fighter plane pilots with their 'helmet' head markings. And they fly like them too..
They are gorgeous Deman ...and noisy, lol, usually around 1.30-2.00 in the Afternoon, they start flying round the Steeple in a feeding frenzy....

I shall be 'twitching' out of my Office window Today...

I suppose they are living up to their name "sparrowhawk",though I've seen them taking pigeons plenty of times, not much meat on a little sparrow. It's the bloody Magpies I  hate, they will grab sparrows, blue tits etc when they are feeding young in the nest. They are not quick killers either like the hawks, poor things sreech for what seems like ages as the buggers pin them down and peck at them.

I have a soft spot for all members of the crow family as well, though. Clever, clever birds.
We have wood pigeons come into the back garden everyday for the food I put out on the bird table. It's one where there's a 'roof' on top...it took them a while to suss out how to navigate their way onto the table under the roof...they have it sussed now though
