I have heard people say (Queenie included ) that if older woman were not supposed to have babies then they wouldn't be able to but then if 14 year olds were not supposed to then their bodies wouldn't let them either
I think the question of older/younger mums has two sides to the argument, one physical and one social. In terms of biology the arguments are similar, it's not physiologically 'ideal' for either very young or older women to have babies as it increases risks to the health of both mother and child. But as others have pointed out the social arguments are very different. Rightly or wrongly (personally I think it's right) a 14 year old is still regarded a child. I agree with Deman and Growly, few have the emotional maturity needed to deal with the responsibility of parenthood. I think there are good parents and bad parents from all age and social groups.

I do also think that women having a 'natural instinct' to have children is rubbish.  If you are conditioned into thinking that it is your role in life to have children, then that's how you will think in later life.  I don't think anyone who choses not to have children will enjoy their life any less than someone who had had several, and having children certainly never featured in my life plan.

I don't think you can deny it's a natural instinct, even if some don't have it. We are animals, afterall!
But if some women don't have it, then it can't be a natural instinct    It's certainly nothing I've ever experienced, and I know several women who have never felt the desire to breed, or who find babies remotely attractive either.

And with the natural instinct thing, some women have it and some dont. A good friend of mine is in her mid 40's, doesn't have children and has never wanted them. She says that some people find this odd, personally I don't. I think it's an individual's right to choose whichever path they want to pursue in life, children or not, it's also an individual's right to have a termination.

(But that's a whole other thread I think)
