I knew about this years ago,it's been well documented,but it's only now that Australia and the U.K. have issued apologies for it.
It was horrific what they did to all those kids,that poor man,his mother was alive and lied to by guess who, the Bloody Catholic church!
No wonder I gave up on religion thirty years ago.

I watched it and it was heart breaking. That apology should have been on the front page of every newspaper and the lead story on every news program. It's even harder to imagine that it only stopped 40 years ago.

Ah Stonks obviously wasn't considered good enough "Breeding stock" to use their euphanisms.The native aboriginie folk only got an apology a few years back too.The Australian government took thier kids from them to raise as "white" away from their culture etc.

That film "Rabbit proof fence" a few years ago was all about that period of shame.

I knew about the child migration after seeing the moving drama The Leaving of Liverpool.

It was a terrible thing to happen to those chidren ......absoloutely heartbreaking. I really don't see why Gordon Brown has to apologise though all these years later. I know he was apologising over the governments mistakes in the past etc. but .............it's really a bit farcical isn't it? Maybe some kind of financial compensation (attached to an apology) might be more appropriate.

I think it was very important, Soozy, and financial help for tracing families was involved, too.

well good on gordon for apologising  for it, come to think he's apologised a lot lately,  we should send him a list  and he can do some more, maybe obama could get gordon to do some on his behalf too..

I must admit I was thinking "it's hardly Gordon's fault is it" Tho I know it meant a lot to the people involved.
