And did you now he was younger than Dick vav Dyke even thhough he played his father in Chity-Chitty Bang Bang.

He was 80-odd so a right good innings

I only worked this out earlier. The news was on and daughter asked "Who's he?" so I said he was Grandpa Potts in CCBB. I mentioned the film was made in the 60's and after some quick maths she was shocked to realise the kids in the film are in their 50's and a lot older than her old mum.   Penny then dropped that Lionel must have been in his 40's at the time.  I said he was probably younger than me then and she went very quiet....

I was surprised to hear he'd died,like pure red I thought  he'd shed his mortal coil years ago,plus I thought he would have been older than he was.I think he came over as a nice man.may he R.I.P.
