Nobody is interested in scary animals. Even worse no one is interested on the best way to protect yourself if you get approached by a bear. My efforts are wasted

The mosquito itself isn't dangerous,it's the parasite they carry that can then cause Malaria,more people killed by Malaria than by any other "Dangerous" animal.

It just surprised me that it is claimed as the most dangerous animal in the world, but when you look at the fatality stats, it is. I'll certainly be better prepared when I go on my hols!

Yep Karma,the trouble is some people don't take the preventative treatments properly(I think you have take tablets for weeks begfore you go?).We are going to more countries where there is Malaria.
Hoever it's the poor folk  in Africa etc that are suffering the most due to lack  of basic treatment,nets etc.

Yeah I know I know one malaria net costs 5 pounds, but I dont understand with the millions upon millions of pounds raised for 3rd world countries affected by this why there is still such a massive problem? I know there are some entanglements with where and how the money is spent and how much of it actually goes directly to those who need it, but when I looked at the fatality stats I was shocked because surely the problem should be decreasing?

May I disagree? It carries all sorts of infectious material. If you ever get an infected bite or a reaction you'll know. **searches for photos** That is why I have said in the past we must attack them all with flame throwers and small thermo nuclear devices.   

There was a teenage girl (about14) on the news a couple of  weeks ago. A shark had gotten hold of her while she was on a boogie board, she whacked it on the nose with the board and it let her go!

I'ts only the female Anopheles Mosquito that transmits Malaria.usually they bite men.So that's ok then.They hide in the day  in cupboards behind curtains and on clothes hanging up in rooms,then come out to bite at night.

Lots of gin and tonic. It's the only way to beat the little blighters.

 The gin is an excuse. The tonic is what keeps them away.

My step daughter died of Malaria in August last year aged 7, poor little thing. Im dreading going over to africa, i will be petrified.

Aww, Sheepy, that's so sad.

Make sure you take your Malaria tablets.
