Omid Djalili? He's from London innit.

There's Shappi Khorsandi as well - she and her family came to the UK from Iran as political refugees.
Isn't that the difference though? They can make remarks that are far edgier than some white comedian without the same fear of criticism/backlash because they're "part of the group" they're mocking. I think we feel more comfortable mocking christianity because the UK is a "christian country" - you can mock what you are a part of far more easily.

Fundamentalist beliefs of any religious flavour are alien to most Brits raised in a fairly mild climate of C of E - it's a nice change to have an opportunity to take the mickey without fear of retribution.

I don't subscribe to any form of organised religion, their dogmas were intially created as a form of social control and most of the Christian creed was nicked from paganism anyway. Stephen was the worst sort of bible bashing evagelist and sort of deserved getting the mickey taken out of him....but I do agree that had the 'fanaticism' come from a non-Christian then such mickey would not have been extracted

Indeed! i think that BB were slagging off him and his born again evangelical nonsense rather than the religion as a whole. As for other religions ... Last week in Iran people were being executed for being "enemies of God!"  There's no need to slag 'em off. They are doing a fine job themselves.
